Adriana Cruz serves as the Executive Director of the Economic Development and Tourism Division within the Office of Governor Greg Abbott, a role she has held since October 2019. With over 25 years of leadership experience in economic development, marketing, and international business, Cruz leads initiatives that promote Texas as a premier global business location and travel destination. Her responsibilities encompass oversight of the Texas Film Commission, Texas Music Office, Texas Workforce Investment Council, and Business and Community Development programs . Previously, she was President of the Greater San Marcos Partnership, where she played a pivotal role in attracting major employers like Amazon to the region.
Earlier in her career, Cruz served as Vice President of Global Corporate Recruitment for the Austin Chamber of Commerce, leading efforts that brought high-profile companies such as Apple and Facebook to Central Texas . She also held the position of Director of Marketing in Governor Rick Perry’s Economic Development and Tourism Office, where she oversaw the state’s economic development marketing initiatives, including the development of the “Texas Wide Open for Business” brand campaign . A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A. in Marketing, Cruz has been recognized for her contributions, including being named one of the Austin Business Journal’s "Profiles in Power: Central Texas Women of Influence" in 2016 .
